COVID 19 Testing
We are testing for COVID 19. If you have had exposure to anyone with COVID 19 or are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, body aches, loss of smell or taste please contact our office to inquire about our testing. Testing is done by nasopharyngeal swab. This is RT-PCR with results back in 48 hours. Given the high demand of testing there is always a possibility of delay in results.
COVID 19 is a respiratory virus that belongs to the coronavirus family. The strain of the virus is SARS COV 2 which is a novel virus that is highly contagious spread mainly by respiratory droplets. Individuals can be asymptomatic and still be able to transmit the virus to others. Symptoms can range from mild to moderate presentations which may be fever, fatigue, body aches, congestion, and cough. Severe symptoms can consist of weakness due to dehydration, shortness of breath or chest pain due to respiratory complications. Patients with chest pain, difficulty breathing or profound weakness may need to be evaluated in the emergency department. If you are experiencing those symptoms call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.
